Directions

If the Ovaltine you buy in American super markets tastes different than it did when you were a child, nothing is wrong with your taste buds. The Wander Company of Switzerland, which created Ovalmaltine, sold out to two giant conglomerates, Nestle's and Twining. Twining makes it now in Switzerland and the UK, while Nestle's handles the rest of the world, including the US. Twining has not tampered with the original formula, but Nestle's has, and you can taste it. The original Ovaltine (as it is known in the US) added no sugar because it was already naturally sweet from the malt. They used to advertise that you can add sugar yourself if you want it sweeter, but you can't remove the sugar if it's already there. So, we can be grateful to Twining, through their Swiss affiliate, the Wander Co., for this wonderful kilo pack of Ovalmaltine without added sugar, the kind of Ovaltine Orphan Annie used to pitch on the radio. If that's the kind of Ovaltine you want, $36 is a bargain.

the product is fine.... BUT I used to be able to get it with LESS sugar...this has much more sugar....but still less than the US version.
it said: NO SUGAR added ,,yet there was all kind of"SUGARS" in it..
which makes it for me ...NOT a good product....as I am paying a high price...Yet DID NOT get what tI thought i had ordered.
with the sugar problem in the world one would think there is LESS sugar in everything ...instead there is MORE..and ALL kind of sugars,which are NOT good for most of us...

Yes, this is the real "Ovo" I remember from my visits as a kid to Austria. It has the full taste it's supposed to have without the cloying sweetness of the American version. I give it 5 stars for its taste but shoot, at $25/lb, it's a product only for those who can afford decadent luxury!
