Review

Sonnier [is] a Louisiana-born Cajun country master with a hearty, tangy singing style and a pungent invigorating accordion sound. The album contains an array of satisfying hits.... He sings the incomprehensible Elvis standby "Polk Salad Annie," ... Procol Harem's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode." ... He is that rare commodity, a consistently entertaining performer. -- People

One Star only because most of the songs are worthless.

I guess I got carried away with Jo-el and it's OK, but is far from my favorite cd to listen to.

Jo-El Sonnier, I once read, speaks only Cajun French, however he can surely sing in English (as well as French), and whether you understand the words, or only the music and the mood and the tone of his voice, he will move your heart and soul. I am surprised he is not world famous. I suppose he is within his own niche. He was one of my best discoveries when I first heard his song, "Come On Joe." I've bought everything he's put out since.

Bought this awhile ago and routinely crank up La Jolie Blonde on my CD player and sing along or try to, mumbling through my French, but smiling while I do. Jo-El Sonnier hits a few music styles here but his Cajun roots shine through admirably.
It's enjoyable music, buy it and then crank it up too!
