Our 3-year-old got this as a gift and was entranced by the stories even without the pen. We probably read the "Princess and the Pea" 532 times in the first week we had this set. It's nice that it's a toy that will grow with her and be of interest even longer with the addition of the pen. We had previously purchased this for a princess-obsessed younger relative who also enjoyed it.

I bought this because my daughter loves books and wanted to help her develop some independence and problem solving techniques but the pen doesn't work....everything the pen touches turns the light green and says "magical answer!"....all the dots...I even tried my hand and it always says it's correct. I even went to the book to re-read the instructions and tried changing the batteries but the pen doesn't change....I'm VERYYYY dissapointed! I was hoping this would be my daughter's new favorite learning toy...but I guess it's just another lame toy...

The princess "wand" pen is my daughters favorite part. She loves all the story books and how interactive they are. Not only does it help her work on her reading skills but it is also teaching her other stills like how to use the pen, problem solving, and the basics of how a story works. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with small children. It is one of my kids' favorite things to "play" with and its educational. As a preschool teacher, my girls LOVED this! They all wanted a turn with the princess wand and loved the stories. I wish there was a little more reading activity with the wand since most of my kids aren't reading on their own yet but it is still a fun and interactive way to introduce young children to reading!

Both of my girls 5&6 love playing with this toy - they actually play together and share it! Great quality as well!

Even my 5 year old twin boys love the Hot Dot's Jr Princess Fairy Tales set! I received the Hot Dot's Jr Princess Fairy Tales set to review in my Pre-K classroom but before I could even put it in my bag to take to school, my boys INSISTED that we open it and interact with it. I must say, my boys really enjoyed the stories that the set contained; Rapunzel, The Frog Prince, The Princess and the Pea, and The Twelve Dancing Princesses. The stories do need to be read aloud to them but as you read along, the children are to be encouraged to answer the questions that are on each page. The children answer using the interactive wand and listen as it provides instant feedback. The wand flashes, talks, and plays music! I am very pleased with the quality of the box. It is very durable and has a strong handle allowing it to be carried and stacked by the kiddos without getting easily destroyed. The four books are also durable and laminated. They are very nicely laid out with colorful pages! I would definitely recommend this set, along with all of the other Hot Dots Jr sets. You will NOT be disappointed!

My 4 year old loves this set! She is crazy about princesses and loves when I read the stories to her. I love that she is engaged and learning math and reading skills. The best part is that she doesn't even know that she's learning. It's just fun to her. My son always want to read with us and they take turns using the magic wand. That is their favorite part.

I was given this product in exchange for writing a review. All opinions are my own, however. I use this kit at work teaching young children. Both boys and girls love the Hot Dots wand, and are willing to work on the educational concepts included on each page in order to watch it turn green. The activities vary in difficulty, which keeps kids coming back to the books as they master new skills. I would love to see a few dots on each page that non-readers could do on their own, in addition to the guided tasks.

I received Hot Dots Jr Princess Fairy Tales for free in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own. We already have enjoyed our Hot Dots Jr. Pre-K math set, so we were excited to test this new set out for review. Our daughter loves Rapunzel but usually isn't interested in other princess stories. She loved this entire set. She was excited to explore the different tasks and was adamant on doing it herself. Hot Dots Jr. makes it easy for little hands and fun for them to learn, all the while making me one happy Mama. I think the wand is a nice touch for this set as well.

My daughter loves everything princess, so I was excited to give her the Hot Dots, Jr. Princess Fairy Tales collection. I am so happy I did. She is only beginning to read, but she loves to look at the pictures and tell herself the stories. Even though she can't read the questions on each page, she has figured out what to look for. She can now answer the questions by herself. The talking pen tells if she is right or wrong with either words, music, sounds or a combination. The box itself is quite sturdy and she loves carrying around the pen and the books to every room in the house. I never dreamed that this set would provide so many hours of creative play while allowing her to develop pre-reading skills at the same time.
