I've tried many phone cases, looking for something that looks good while protecting your phone from damage. I keep coming back to the otter box because it just works. It's designed with a hard plastic inner layer and a rubberized outer layer. This is a more effective design than the soft inner, hard outer designs in that the shock is defused without causing damage to the case, or the phone. I once purchased a heavy duty aluminum phone case and while it was very protective, it was bulky, heavy, and any protective coating was worn off within a month of normal use. my previous otter box lasted for 2 years with no issues. This one i expect to do the same. Heat retention is an issue with all phone cases, but the otter box, being made of heat resistant materials, doesn't make it difficult to hold the phone under normal use loads, and will alert you to the fact that our phone is getting hot without cooking your fingers. Also, i notice that the Otter Box actually helps keep my phone cooler longer as compared with the Aluminum case. I recommend the Otter Box Defender to any and all phone users. unless you are looking for waterproof, this is only water resistant.Read full review

There are many cell phone cases on the market, but none can perform quite as well as the Otterbox for the Samsung Galaxy S4. The design of layered protection is one of the best out on the market today. Inside the case, there is a thin foam pad for protecting the back of the phone from impacts, surrounded by a strong plastic case that snaps firmly together to help keep out dust and dirt. The HUGE plus to this phone case is the integrated clear cover for the front of the phone! It is permanently affixed to the front half of the plastic shell, and will definitely save the touch screen from lots of what life has to throw at it. Now it will not stop a hammer of course, and the home return button is not protected by the protective screen, but it will resist scratches and keep your touch screen relatively safe and scratch free. Surrounding the plastic case is a generous amount of rubber that will protect your phone from most drops at about the 5 to 6 foot range, and will last for years. The port covers do a great job at keeping out dust and dirt. The case is a really well made one, but remember that it is not water proof. It will do a good job at keeping your phone dry while using it in mild rain, but may not keep it dry in a heavy downpour, and will not keep it dry if submerged in water. Overall, a great choice for not having to replace your phone if you drop it.Read full review
