This device works exactly as intended. The calibration of the dial seems to be right on the money (at least in the lower region where I used it). The kit includes two 90-degree female crimp-on spade lug connectors, very well-written instructions, and even a pad of super-strong double-sided tape (in case you don't feel like drilling holes to mount it). For our purpose (which was delaying the blower fan until our no-frills heat pump had time to build up some heat), this timer was perfect. We set it to delay a little over a minute - which is the same amount of time the factory set the blower to keep running after the heat pump shuts off. It makes sense - you have to consider the thermal mass of the indoor coil itself, and the hysteresis involved. The better high efficiency systems do this with variable fan speeds already, but we can immitate this functionality somewhat in our no-frills system by using this timer. Anyway - now we have a warmish breeze at fan start-up; as opposed to the chilly breeze we used to have. And the unit actually reaches into the high 90's and low 100's a lot sooner overall than it used to be able to do. Therefore the compressor runs a little bit less time in an inefficient startup situation. The hours counter in the thermostat confirms it too. They use these timers for all sorts of things, and it really worked well in our situation too.Read full review
