Just using it for bottom fishing right now, so I don't expect any problems. Absolutely smooth retrieve and a large amount of line comes in per handle revolution (important when you are fishing 100 meters down.) Level wind is perfect for it too. Brought in several sculpin (30+) in a four hour period using a 16 oz sinker without any fatigue. A pleasure to use for this purpose, though maybe a bit over classed for it. Will be using it for a heavier quarry soon as the season gets closer, but expect no problems with that either, it's a Penn, and it'll take whatever the fish dish out.

I am an offshore captain and purchased four Penn Fathom 60 level wind reels over four years ago. They are strong and smooth, and only get a fresh water wrinse after a day of fishing. I've had no problems with them at all, and highly recommend them.

I put this reel on a 5 1/2' rollor rod with 50 lb. Cajun Red monofilliment line on iit. The first time that I took it out was in the gulf of Mexico in Florida. I caught an 8' , 250 pound bull shark with this set up. I fought the shark for 2 1/2 hours a this Penn Fathom 60LW did geeat.

This is a very nice reel for the money. We have been catching some nice groupers and red snappers with this and is works flawlessly.
