I have several high end scopes, but needed something lighter and bright for a stalking hunting rifle. The MTAC fit the bill perfectly. The CQ reticle has exactly what I want for quick acquisition and drops without having to adjust turrets. The wind holds are in mils and elevation are set for 223 or 7.62 for drops out to 600. Just zero at 100 and leave the turrets be. I like that the illumination is on-off-on so you can find the brightness that is best for you and be on click away when needed. The magnification is a very useful range fur hunting in the mountains or thick brush. The field of view is plenty large and I can keep both eyes open on the lowest magnification. The larger objective allows plenty of light as well as a healthy exit pupil and generous eye box. This was the biggest selling point for me vs my NXS 2.5-10x32. I am not saying the Burris is better but it holds its own and is 5 oz lighter. The image quality is remarkable throughly the range of magnification with a good fixed parallax within the useful hunting range. Last thing about the reticle, it is a very clean design and floats in the middle of view. The center dot is around 2moa, so not the best for detail work, but perfect for hunting or steel. Just point and shoot. As for durability , it seems rugged enough for hunting , but I don't plan on fast roping from a helo so I feel it will do fine on a hunt or scabbarded. The finish will scratch a bit easier than my other scopes. For the money it is a great scope. I do not feel like i compromised at all.Read full review

I have to preface this review by stating I am by no means an experienced scope user/owner. This is the 3rd scope I've used. I do have a number of friends big into 3 gun and have some feedback from them to go along with my own opinion. My previous scope was an MTAC 1-4, which I REALLY liked. Bright, clear, and not terribly fussy about eye position. However with my aging eyes I thought going to a 6x adjustable would work better for me. It did, at least for longer range shooting and shooting from a bench. But I could not get used to the 1.5x on the low end. In retrospect I don't believe I gave this scope much of a chance before selling it for still another Burris scope.

I initially had an RMR red dot mounted to my new AR15 build but I was unable to see where my shots were hitting. This made any follow up shots difficult if not impossible for me to hit with any degree of accuracy. My eyesight just isn’t what it used to be. With the Burris MTAC 6x magnification, my follow up shots are now spot on! The reticle took a little bit to get used to but after following the advice of a previous customer and zeroed the scope to used the large red dot for CQC and use the next(2nd) dot down for 100yrds. The illumination is bright enough for sunny days and I love that the reticle remains visible when powered off. This scope is perfect for close range work or more precision shots out to 500yrds! Bottom line, I would recommend this scope to all of my friends and family and would purchase again if given the opportunity!👍Read full review

I particularly like the reticle design which allows for fast acquisition and follow up and that you can use it when it gets dark because it can be illuminated. The optics are bright and crisp and it holds zero well on my AR. The adjustment knobs are large and easy to use. I like that it is tactical for fast sighting and would highly recommend this to others. The manufacturer has a lifetime warranty on this product.
This is a great scope for use out to about 500 yards perfect for the AR platform or for the 2 .23. or 556 cartridge and even 7.62 to 500 yards. The glass is very clear the build is very rugged I highly suggest the use of the scope for inside 500 yards
