This was alright but I was expecting more of a real documentary format on WW II battles. The DVD set is a collection of propaganda films made by the U.S. Army War office during WW II. Some of the footage is pretty cool but there is no depth of analysis - it is all propaganda - the Allies needed a committed home front for the war effort and they produced these films to achieve that goal. It is also very "American" focused - not much mention of all the other countries which played a role in defeating the Axis Powers - I am used to seeing that but it is a little hard to take at times given I am a Canadian - we helped with winning the war too and so did the British, Aussies, Free French etc. etc. I was disappointed but largely because I was expecting something else.
The great battles of world war two is a very comprehensive presentation of the major military confrontations of that period. The DVDS are compiled from excellent international news reel stock with a excellent running commentary. I have watched all the segments several times with great interest.
