these are excellent speakers, I put them in a 99 expedition as a first modification to the existing sound system, but afterwards found that no more upgrades are needed. the bass response is now something that you can feel and it should go without saying that the treble range has been expanded by a factor of ten (the old speakers were of the whizzer cone variety- these pioneers have a robust tweeter with a component style crossover). they are well made and work with the factory stereo (volume and frequency response) and made such a significant improvement that I (a fan of loud rock and roll since the late 60's) need go no further in system upgrading. now the rest, while the speaker quality is outstanding, the term "exact fit" was not quite the case. They are actually almost 1/4 inch deeper (mounting depth) than the factory speakers. So at least in the case of the 99 expy be prepared to space them out. I went to home depot and got some 1/4 inch nylon spacers to hold them out for clearance and some 1/2 inch white rubber weather stripping (flexible, peel and stick) to seal them in. VOILA-a great sound system for a good price and a small amount of "make it fit". check for prices, got mine here on ebay for less than half of what the traditional stores wanted. I have always used polk or infinity components in the past but these are every bit as, if not better than those, particularly the bass end of the range.Read full review
Perfect drop in upgrade for Mustang Shaker 500 speakers (‘05-‘10). I purchased one pair to replace the speakers in the doors to test and see if I’ll be buying a second set for the rear deck. They sound great with the stock Shaker HU and no other mods! Now the problem is I can hear how muddy the stock door sub woofers are. :p Guess that’ll be my next upgrade! Quick note, there are two mounting ears that need to be removed to fit the Mustang mounting plate. The ears are scored so if you grab them with pliers held parallel to the frame and rock each ear up and down a few times, they break right off at the score line.
