I LOVE this machine. It's so light I was able to get it up the stairs to my third-floor aparment by myself (and no, I'm not 6-ft tall or muscle-bound), though there was a fair amount of huffing and puffing involved. Washes great - clothes come out cleaner than they do at the laundromat. OK, so you can't wash as many clothes at the same time as you can at the laundromat, but that's not a negative for me - I'd much rather do 5 loads one after the other than have to schlep the same loads down 2 flights of stairs, through the snow, to the car, and to the laundromat, then do the same thing in reverse 2 hours later (especially the stairs bit). The machine spins out a lot of the water, so I just hang the clothes on a drying rack and usually they dry overnight. I did expect the machine to be on casters for portability, but even that's not a problem - I can easily "walk" it over to the sink. The "quick wash" cycle is great and I do a lot of things with that - my son thinks that even if he's worn a shirt for just 5 minutes it needs to be washed - saving $$ on electricity. Considering the amount I used to spend at laundromat, this machine has probably almost already paid for itself in the couple of months I've had it. I read a lot of reviews for this machine before I bought it, and I know some reviewers had trouble with the instruction book and putting the baseplate on, but I didn't find it a problem at all, even working on my own and with only a leatherman tool screwdriver. So maybe the manufacturer has redone the instructions or reworked the baseplate design. One other thing, if you're expecting this to be as convenient as a plumbed-in full size washer with all the bells and whistles, you're going to be disappointed. It takes a little more work to use this machine, but it sure as heck beats the laundromat.Read full review
So, I got the Haier HLP21N delivered to my carpark yesterday, and I was in love. Well, that's after I had to lug the washer up 45 steps with NO DELIVERY TO MY DOORSTEP. Hey Haier -- get a clue and put some handles on the top of that daggnabbit box, would ya?!? Easy-peasy set up; the plate to drill in to the bottom of the washer provided a bit of a challenge. The key is to use a power drill and press the metal plate in hard to the frame of the washer to get the screws in all the way. Don't even waste your time with the levelers -- use the casters. I did my first load of laundry and I was thoroughly disappointed. The clothes were FULL OF LINT! And no lint filter on this unit since Haier changed the design sometime this summer. What a P.I.T.A. But, I found a fix for the lint problem!!! First, run a HOT wash but do not put any laundry in the drum and set the load to full, the cycle to heavy duty and with the wash-rinse-spin cycle activated and start that puppy. Then, do a usual load of laundry with the same settings and NO MORE LINT!! I guess the divorce is off, I'm now in love again! In researching this problem of what a girl's supposed to do when the fancy washer she just bought isn't getting rid of the lint, I found a few things: Add 1 cup white vinegar to full wash, heavy setting, wash-rinse-spin program but don't put in any laundry and push start. That's supposed to clear out all of the lint and send it down the drain. Add 1/2 cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle when doing laundry and that should separate the lint from the laundry. I'm going to try and devise a lint filter to toss in with a load of laundry. My idea is to take one of those girly shower mesh balls (also available at Walmart ;-)) and put it in the foot section of a leg of pantyhose, cut off the leg of pantyhose so there's enough length just to tie a tight knot to contain the mesh ball. Throw it in with a full load and see if that removes the lint. Regarding the problem of lint clogging up the drain: put 1/2 leg of pantyhose (the foot section of the panthose ending terminally) and rubberband it to the end of the drain hose to collect the lint (just don't let it slip down your drain and find your laundry water flooding your floor). Change/make a new filter as needed. I hope this helps. Now, I'm going to unpack the Avanti dryer that just arrived...Read full review
Absolutely love this lil machine! I have the 6.6lb one it is good for small loads 4 large towels @ most. Perfect for the single person or a couple. Anyone with a family doing large loads is better off purchasing the 11 lb machine. All n all gr8 lil machine it's a workhorse! You won't be dissapointed! Problems you may encounter when purchasing machine, water leaking by the inlet hose comes with white rubber washer that needs to be adjusted to stop leak! Machine unbalanced there are leveling jacks on bottom of machine (legs) that need to be adjusted! Other than that gr8 machine! Highly recommend! A+++++
This washer is very easy to hook up and use! You can fit a lot of clothes into it and it washes very clean! I used the quick cycle a lot. And it spins all the water out! Its very powerful! I got a lot of use out of mine!
