What kind of rail does this mount to? Expert Answer

It does not mount to a rail. It is designed to direct mount to Ruger proprietary half circle grooves that are cut out of the top of the receiver and are specifically only used by Ruger for Ruger firearms.

I have only ruger rifles...partly because of the ring configuration. I am able to lower a 3x9 scope next to the barrel. Only caution I have is that the torx screws tend to loosen. Need to be checked frequently. I suppose Locktite is an option.
