I'm surprised that Family Guy came out with a video game. When I first got it just a few days ago, I thought that they would change it and it wouldn't be as fun as the show. But I was wrong. In the game, you randomly change characters from Stewie, Peter, and Brian. Most of the storyline is based on random scenes from different episodes (e.g. Brian and Mr. Hoover, Adam West and the Missing Water...). Stewie: In Stewie's storyline, Stewie wants to use Peter's PTV satellite to take over the world but then his brother bursts in and trys to start his own plans for world domination. After peter gets hit by the satellite, Stewie has to follow him to the hospital to get to Burtram. Jumping with Stewie isn't that hard unless you are trying to jump from platform to platform. It gets pretty tiring if you jump too late and end up back at the bottom of the screen but if you do fall, it won't take away any life. Stewie can do a double jump and if you push the "jump" button a third time, he can glide. If there is another charactor in the same room as you, you can control him/her to help complete a task. Inside the hospital is kind of hard cause the staff will try to hunt you down and it will take a while to complete. But sadly, Stewie isn't teamed up with Brian like the way it usualy is. Peter: After his satellite falls and hits him in the head, Peter thinks that he was kidnaped and trys to beat up everyone in the town. You can randomly become many different characters under Peter, most of them are from the cut aways you see on tv. Peter isn't really that difficult except when useing special moves. Just punch until the person dies. Brian: Brian's plot is alot like the "Screwed the Pooch" episode from tv. Brian gets put in jail for impregnanting Seabreeze but he escapes. The problem is everybody in town is on watch for him. In most of the game, Brian has to sneak in through obstacles without being noticed, which is hard to do. Most of the objects you need are within sight of the other charactors which makes it harder and if someone sees you, you have to start all over again. Brian doesn't really do anything except crawl but that doesn't seem to help. Minigames: the minigames are mostly based on the cut-aways from the tv show. Some of them are really easy like "Marco Polo (with Helen Keller)" and "Sit Down", which still can make you laugh whenever you play it. The game still has the familiar "Family Guy" look but while the characters are talking, it kind of reminds me of South Park. The regular characters can be seen and share some jokes in the sidelines. Overall: Buy it if you are a true family guy fan but only to play if you are looking for a few laughs or if your just bored.Read full review
I purchased this game because I received PSP version as a gift and played it so much and laughed so much! If you're looking for a rip-roaring time and you're already familiar with the Family Guy's brand of raunchy humor then this is the game for you! It's not geared for children because of the animation so don't be fooled into buying this game for a youngster. My grandaughters are 10 and 13 and they love it! If you're easily offended by off color jokes containing sexual content then steer clear - on the other hand if this kind of humor makes you "belly-guff" then purchase it. I promise you won't be a bit disappointed in the characters' parts in this game! Personally, I think Stewie is "the man"!
I suggest if you like Family Guy save a little more money and buy the dvd's. The humor is the best part of this game, the actual gameplay is horribly outdated, reminded me of the old Beavis and Butthead game from the supernintendo-sega genesis days. You start out as Stewie running around with his ray gun basically colecting things to power it up. Next is Brian, you sneak through the level trying not to be spotted by other characters using shadows and goofy disguises, these parts really wear your patience out. Then Peter, in his efforts to stop Mr.Belvedere you fight everyone in his path with a basic hit-kick button mashing frenzy. And in true Family Guy fashion they include cutscenes like in the show that are actually minigames, if completed you get powerups and such, the average minigame takes all of 20 or 30 seconds to play you mostly do things like rotating the joystick or tap buttons quickly to complete. As I said the story line is what makes this game playable, its just to bad the gameplay doesn't compliment that. This game won't take long for the average gamer and wil probably be sitting on a shelf after on or two plays, gets the dvd's instead, or rent trust me. and i hoped for more Quagmire, oh well.Read full review
