I purchased the HC4000 mainly for watching movies and formula 1 racing on tv. Along with the projector I purchased the Oppo 93 Blu Ray player (which was recommended by the seller and reviews I read on the internet). The picture quality when watching Blu Ray movies is fabulous (especially for the price). The quality is so good that I can see when the image was not focused correctly by the cameraman. DVD movies are still ok to watch, but of course Blu Ray is in a different league. I haven't felt the need to change any of the image settings yet, straight out of the box is pretty good.I found that the picture quality is still very good up until about 120 inches. Thereafter the resolution starts to fall away. I ended up making my own screen out of MDF at 110 inches and painting (with a microfibre roller with the smallest nap) it pure white (without added pigmentation), which reflects a much better picture than the cheap 100 inch screen I bought off ebay (which I had to sent back because it had a number of defects). I think that 110 or 120 inches is perfect for this projector, with the 100 inch screen I found that I was always using the zoom and having the image hang over the edges of the screen to get an image size I prefered.Watching TV programs is a bit dissapointing, as the so-called high definition channels are only 1080i and not 1080p, and watching football on 576i resolution isn't great, but it is watchable. If you care, this is not a 3D projector. The only slight issue I have is that it only has 1 HDMI input, so when I go from Blu Ray to TV I have to change the cables over. I could get a HDMI switcher, but the Oppo manual doesn't recommend this, as you lose the best quality image. If you're on a budget and don't need 3D, I highly recommend the HC4000.Read full review
I had always owned rear projection t.v.'s including Mitsubishi and was always impressed with their brand...so when I recently moved to my new home, the theater room was wired for a projector by the previous owner..I was hesitate about putting one up,thinking the quality of he picture was substandard...boy was I wrong. The picture from this projector is INCREDIBLE! I have a 100" tv now on my bare wall with no screen and its amazing...all my friends can't believe its on a bare wall...only thing I would recommend is to have it professionally installed..I got a mount from level mount..its a 360 degree adjustable mount...
Perfect PJ, the only low cost, no compromise image quality PJ that also had CIH screen friendly options (PJs in this price range today don't have CIH friendly options, and Mits got out of the game)

I migrate from the earlier mit hd1000 720p to this one. This new has greater contrast, wonderful colour without calibration, very sharp image. Excellent for home theater in a dark room and it works also fine with little light. I don´t think there´s another projector in this price that equals this quality, I recommend it.
This is a great projector. In fact it is better then projectors twice the price. It has a bright and really sharp picture. I have owned four projectors and this is the best. When you consider how little the cost id you will be amazed at what you get for the money. I highly recommne this.
