Provocative film about a cop who literally gets shot to bits by a gang of criminals. Somehow he is still alive, and the OCP, which is the corporation running futuristic Detroit, has him rebuilt sort of like the Bionic Man years ago. This time, all new steel limbs and outer armorment with computer chips controlling his mind, he is turned into a cyber-soldier. His old partner tries to help RoboCop (as he is called) remember his human side, but isn't successful. But one day a chance encounter with one of the killers of his human side, he decides to go on a one-cyborg campaign of revenge against those who killed him. A mission that will eventually lead all the way back to OCP. . . Average movie but an interesting idea,
Without a doubt my favorite movie. The acting is phenomenal, people playing the characters fit perfectly, special effects are excellent (especially for 1987), and the story writing is amazing (won't spoil any of it for you in this review... don't worry). The clarity of the DVD isn't the best compared to modern movies, but it beats a degrading VHS tape any day. Since it is on DVD format it packs 5.1 surround sound in English, French, and Spanish. It also has subtitles for those languages which can be useful. The only special feature is the original theatrical trailer. Running time is 1 hour 43 minutes which feels just right. Just a warning to anyone looking to buy this for children... it is very violent with realistic blood and a good amount of swearing. It's an amazing buy, and you can get it extremely cheap on eBay for around $4 to $6.Read full review

The director of this movie said that he felt Robocop was like a new incarnation of Jesus. This is reinforced by some coincidental imagery. I'm not sure most people will see it that way on their own. But I do think if viewers watch with a keen eye, they will be somewhat awed by everything that comes in this package. The film runs you through the gamut of human emotions, without making it feel forced. And the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously gives it more shelf life about 20 years after it was released. Watching it as a kid, I tended to miss the social commentary spiced into the fast-moving storyline. It's not exactly a kid's movie by any means, but it's exciting enough to keep almost anyone's attention. Many films like this have been made several years later with much better technology and bigger budgets. But it's not all about the money and the technology. RoboCop is a great story and message done well for its time. That is why it deserves to be watched again and again.Read full review
One of the greatest film of the 1980's was basically a ripoff or was heavily inspired by Judge Dredd but it's still a great movie and does it's own thing great character who develop and we can relate to. Great cinematography and lighting it looks great, I wish they had done a Judge Dredd film this well but oh well. Very defined by the era it came out of feels like 80's sci-fi because it is because it helped define 80's movies and future movies by people inspired by this movie. Robocop, I'd buy that for a dollar!
