This is one of my favorite westerns, and I believe it ranks almost as high as "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". Gregory Peck plays a patient sea captain who moves out west to marry a wealthy rancher's daughter, played by Carroll Baker. I really liked Peck's character, a man who didn't need to fight to prove himself a man, even after an assault by a group of drunk cowboys and the near constant jeering by ranch foreman Steve Leech, played by Charlton Heston. The feud between the Terrill family and the Hannassey clan reaches a climactic peak towards the end, which I think is one of Hollywood's greatest shoot-outs.
Always liked the main title soundtrack, the movie is not bad for a western of this era. Blurry picture is sharp and has some very well filmed vistas.
